Every time we engage in another’s journey, we make that voyage ourselves
Weight Does not Define You, it only Impedes You or Enables You

Successful adjustment to a lifestyle change, especially after weight loss surgery, requires coping with the loss of the old relationship with food, learning new behaviors, adjusting to new physical experiences, dealing with a range of intense emotions and the reactions of others. Set realistic goals and don't be discouraged by a setback. People who do the best after surgery are the ones who make modest, gradual changes rather than severe ones. Focus on lifelong habit changes rather than short-term goals and keep in mind that lifestyle changes need to be forever.

Evaluations for Weight Loss Surgery and Psychotherapy

The focus of my practice is providing pre-surgical psychological evaluations for weight loss surgery candidates. As a psychologist associate member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, I am aware of the unique psycho-social dynamics facing these patients and the requirements for a good post-surgical outcome. This work is the mainstay of my practice and I provide this service to bariatric patients in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

I also see adult psychotherapy clients who are dealing with phase of life and adjustment challenges, including anxiety and depressed mood.
